Xavier Moon: “Trent’s 100 point of the game? He has to bring burgers”

Zenit’s newcomer Xavier Moon about first VTB League win of the season (103:75).

— First of all, X, congrats on this debut win of the season. And what happened with Zenit in the third quarter when we started playing more aggressive?

— You said it. We started playing more aggressive on defense. Obviously, basketball is a game of runs, so we knew they would make a run. But we just got to try to sustain that. We got to try to have a better second quarter and going into the half and then come out like the third quarter we had today and then finish the game.

— And were you surprised by the level of MBA that they showed tonight?

— We never want to discount any teams, no matter if they have Americans or not. So we treat every opponent the same. We're never overlooking anybody. They came out, they made some shots. We missed some shots that we should have made, but, I mean, we got the win, so we're looking forward to the next game on Wednesday.

— And what is your first impression of the VTB League?

— It's a little rough, but it's still basketball at the end of the day, so first game out of the way, man, and the rest of the season, I'm looking forward to it.

— Who do you dedicate this victory to?

— I dedicate it to my lady, our kids, my stepdad. Yeah. Yeah, that's it.

— What did head coach and the board of directors say in the locker room after the game?

— He was just saying we've got to be better. Obviously, we started the game pretty well, and then they made a run in the second quarter. We just got to make sure we come out with a better intensity, a better focus, so we don't have those lapses in the game where we give them a chance to make a run and then just finish the game like we did today.

— Trent Frazier scored the 100th point. What do you think? Will he bring burgers or pizza?

— He has to bring burgers. We will make sure that's a thing, so we're looking forward to that too.

— What do you think about our fans?

— Great fans. I hope the rest of the season looks like this as far as the fan base. But great first game.
