Zenit — 2025/26

The 2025/26 season, the 12th in the club’s history, marked a period of major change for Zenit. During the offseason, Xavi Pascual was replaced by Aleksander Sekulić as head coach. In September, the St. Petersburg club won the Kondrashin and Belov Cup for the fifth time, as the tournament had been granted official status, and also finished as the silver medalist in the VTB United League Superсup. The team competed in two tournaments during the year, but the first half of the regular season proved challenging for Zenit, with injuries, heartbreaking defeats, and changes to the coaching staff. In January, Dejan Radonjić took over as head coach of the Blue-White-Sky Blues’ main team. Under his leadership, Zenit advanced to the WINLINE Basket Cup Final Four and finished the VTB United League regular season in third place. In addition, Georgy Zhbanov was named Defensive Player of the Year. In the playoffs, Zenit, after a hard-fought quarterfinal series against Uralmash (3-1), fell one step short of the final, losing 3-4 to UNICS Kazan in the semifinal series. Ahead of the bronze medal series, Radonjić stepped down, and Rostislav Vergun, previously a member of the Montenegrin coach’s staff, was appointed interim head coach. Unfortunately, the Blue-White-Sky Blues finished the season without a medal, as Lokomotiv Kuban won the third-place series 3-2.
