Sergey Karasev is the new Zenit captain
Sergey is a native of St. Petersburg, and the upcoming season will be the seventh for the forward.
Karasev is Zenit's all-time record holder in games played (272), points (2873) and steals (238).
Together with Zenit, Sergey has won eight trophies: for the first time in his career he became the VTB United League champion, as well as the champion of Russia and the National Cup winner. He also won the VTB United League Supercup twice and the Kondrashin and Belov Cup three times.
The forward played in 47 games in the VTB United League last season, averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 26 minutes. Sergei played 6 games in the Russian Cup, averaging 10.8 points, 3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

It is a great honor for me to be the captain of Zenit. Actually, it is the first time I became a captain. I will do everything in my power to create a great atmosphere in the locker room, so that the guys are united not only in the locker room, but also outside it. I will build relationships between players and coaches as much as possible, help foreign players settle in St. Petersburg faster and join the team. I will build bridges between the players and the fans who have supported us for ten years, without whom I cannot imagine Zenit Basketball Club at all. I will do my best, try to help Zenit achieve the highest awards.
