Xavier Moon: “It's going to be a competitive season this year”
Xavier Moon won his first trophy with Zenit on Friday after besting UNICS in the finals (63:50) and was named the best point guard of the 2024 Kondrashin and Belov Cup.
— Xavier, it's a big win, and you also had a very great performance. And it's the fourth time Zenit keeps this trophy at home. Was it tough?
— I mean, yeah, man, this is our first real challenge. We've been preparing in Turkey for like a week and a half, trying to get ready for this. This is really our first time playing together, so we're still trying to get used to each other, but it was great that we can come out with these wins.
— You were named the best point guard of the competition, and are you satisfied?
— No, I'm never satisfied. Just doing what I can, man, to help the team win. If that means being the best point guard, then I guess I'm going to keep doing that for the rest of the season.
— Was it difficult to play two games in two days?
— Absolutely. I think the last game I played was in, like, July. So my first real game since then, but it feels good to get these wins, and hopefully we can keep it going moving forward. It's going to be a competitive season this year. I'm looking forward to it, but I know we're going to come out ready every game, so I'm not worried about it.
— Hard work always pays off, you know, and how do you plan to rest?
— About to take an ice bath right now, man, hopefully get a lot of sleep tonight, off day tomorrow, and then we'll be right back to it on Sunday.
