Alexander Shcherbenev is at Zenit!

June 27, 2024
Zenit Basketball Club and point guard Alexander Shcherbenev have agreed to cooperate. The agreement with the 23-year-old player of the Russian National Team is signed for 3 years — until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Shcherbenev was born in Krasnodar and it was here that he took his first steps in basketball. The guard went through the entire training system of the Lokomotiv Kuban sports reserve, starting with the youth team. Shcherbenev made his debut for Loko in the 2017/18 season, becoming the winner of the Russian Cup. And he played in VTB United League matches for the first time in early 2019.

For nine years, until the end of the 2023/24 season, Alexander remained in the Krasnodar’s system, of which he spent two years on a business trip to Superleague clubs Spartak Primorye Vladivostok (2019/20) and Uralmash Yekaterinburg (2020/21). With the "factory workers" he became the owner of the silver medals of the Superleague-1.

In the 2022/23 season, Alexander, being the main point guard of Lokomotiv, helped Krasnodar defeat CSKA in the semifinals and reach the final of the United League. Shcherbenev took part in 49 games (38 times in starting five), averaging 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the team.

In the season that ended, the playmaker appeared on the floor in 48 games, averaging 5.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Now Alexander is in St. Petersburg. Welcome!
