Andrey Vorontsevich: "We shouldn’t relax"
Blue-White-Sky Blues forward Andrey Vorontsevich summed up the results of the away game against Pari Nizhny Novgorod (72:88) during the post-match press conference.
— First of all, this is our third consecutive away game. And, of course, that’s not easy. We know that Pari NN is a team that always fights and competes, especially in Nizhny, in front of their home crowd. I personally know how the fans in Nizhny support their team, and today they showed good basketball.
I understand that they were missing their leaders — Baburin and Khvostov. Of course, young players don’t always succeed in everything, especially against big teams. I can highlight Zotkin today — he played well.
Nevertheless, I would like to mention our own moments. Nizhny plays quite provocative basketball, on the edge of fouls. Because of that, the game looked a bit chaotic, and naturally, on our side we could have converted more open shots and found more mismatches near the basket. But still, it’s a game. I repeat, we played against a serious opponent and against the solid system of Sergey Kozin.
So yes, we were leading, but we lost the third quarter — 23:17. That’s something to keep in mind: against any opponent, if you start thinking that even with a 20-point lead and being the favorite you can relax, things can quickly turn the other way. We shouldn’t relax.
Yes, we won — congratulations to everyone. Thank you to all the fans who support us, especially those who were in the stands today. Thank God we won — that’s good for us. We move forward.
