Maxim Karvanen joins Zenit-2

February 28, 2025

Power forward Maxim Karvanen is returning to Zenit, where he will play for the club's farm team. The player and the club have signed an agreement until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Up until now, the 25-year-old Russian basketball player had been representing Metallurg Magnitogorsk. In the current Fonbet Super League season, he has played 24 games, averaging 11.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks in 29 minutes on the court.

Maxim is a native of St. Petersburg and a product of the Sports school No. 1 in the Admiralteysky district. At the age of 16, he joined Zenit's system and progressively moved through the stages of the Children Youth Basketball League (CYBL) and the youth team. Later, he played for Zenit's reserve team in the Super League-2, signed a contract with the main team, and then was loaned to Saratov's Avtodor. After leaving Zenit, Karvanen played for Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk's Rusichi, Surgut's Universitet Yugra, and finally Metallurg, for which he began playing at the start of the current season.

Now, the forward returns to his home club. Zenit welcomes Maxim and wishes him good luck in the remainder of the season!
