Zabian Dowdell was not selected in the 2007 NBA draft and moved to France to play for Nancy. From the 2007/08 season, the American primarily competed in Europe, although he returned home a few times to try his luck in the NBA Development League and even signed a short contract with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. Dowdell first played in Russia for Enisey in the 2012/13 season and later joined Zenit after two seasons outside Russia.
