Thomas Heurtel is a product of French Pau-Orthez. In the 2008/09 season, while playing for this team, he received the Rising Star award of the French championship. After the club dropped to the second division, Heurtel moved to ASVEL.
There were subsequent loans to French Strasbourg and Spanish Alicante, which was playing in the ACB League at that time. In 2011, Thomas joined Baskonia and played for them for three and a half seasons. It was with this team that he made his debut in the Euroleague.
In December 2014, Turkish Anadolu Efes lured the point guard away from Baskonia and brought him to Istanbul. He played for the club until 2017, earning a reputation as one of the best passing players on the continent.
In 2017, Heurtel signed a contract with Barcelona. He played in the capital of Catalonia for three and a half years, and in January 2021, he reached an agreement with ASVEL and returned to his homeland. With the team from Lyon, the current Zenit guard won the French championship and then moved to Real Madrid at the end of the season. From Real, he transferred to Zenit in the summer of 2022.
