The second team of the blue-whites will face Grozny’s Dynamo away

Zenit-2 wraps up the year with its third consecutive away match. This time, Oliver Popovic's squad will visit Grozny, where they are set to meet a debutant of the Fonbet Super League, the local Dynamo.

The match against the Grozny team is also notable for marking the end of the first lap of the regular season. At the midpoint of the season, the Chechen team finds itself as the main underdog of the tournament, occupying the last place in the standings. Dynamo has only three wins to its name, but one of those came during the previous round of the Super League.

This Wednesday, Oleg Kiselev's team faced their table neighbors, Rostov's BARS-RGEU. The teams put on a high-scoring and dramatic game with two overtimes. As a result, Dynamo secured an away victory with a score of 100:104. Grozny’s best player in the game was point guard Vladimir Zabolotnev, who scored 26 points and also contributed 4 rebounds, assists and steals.

Since this is the Chechen team’s first season in the Super League, tomorrow's meeting will be the first-ever encounter between our two teams.

Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his expectations for the game in Grozny:

This will be our third consecutive away game. We've had very tiring trips and matches. I hope that tomorrow the players will have enough energy and focus to deliver a solid performance. Dynamo is a good team with experience, and their current position in the standings doesn’t reflect their true quality.

The match will take place on December 22 and will begin at 19:00 St. Petersburg time. The game will be streamed on the website of the Russian Basketball Federation.
