Zenit-2 will face CSKA-2 in the Fonbet Super League
This game between the Zenit-2 and army team will be their third encounter this season. In the Russian Cup, both teams claimed one victory each, but despite triumph in the return match (96:82), Zenit-2 was eliminated from the tournament.
In the Super League, Anton Yudin's squad had a rocky start. In the opening rounds, CSKA-2 lost to Temp-SUMZ (71:73) and Chelbasket (73:76), causing them to slip down the standings. However, the Moscow team is currently on a winning streak, even managing to defeat the reigning Super League champion, Vladivostok's Dynamo, with a score of 90:86.
In their recent Sunday match against Dynamo from Grozny, the opposing team was led by standout performances from Vadim Shirinkin (16 points), Maxim Ilyovsky (16) and Ilya Ermakov (15), who are the team's season leaders.
Throughout their Super League history, Zenit's farm team has faced CSKA-2 four times, winning three of those encounters.
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his thoughts ahead of the challenging away game in Moscow:
We're playing against CSKA-2 for the third time in 20 days. In the past 10 days, we've faced some issues with injuries and colds. I hope we'll have a full roster for this game. It's going to be a very demanding match. CSKA-2 is a talented and physically strong team.
The match is scheduled for November 13 at the Dynamo Sport Palace, with the game starting at 19:00 Saint Petersburg time. The broadcast will be available on the Russian Basketball Federation's website.
