Zenit-2 will host the CSKA-2 in the Russian Cup
The second team of the blue-whites is set to host CSKA-2 in the second leg of the Winline Russian Cup Round of 32.
To recap, the first game ended with a score of 101:69 in favor of the Moscow team. Two weeks later, the teams will face off again, this time in Saint Petersburg. During this interval, Zenit-2 played two challenging home games against Chelbasket and Metallurg, both of which ended in hard-fought victories.
The army team also faced a tough schedule. Anton Yudin’s squad managed two hard-earned victories on a distant away trip. First, they defeated Irkut (80:91), and then, with a score of 86:90, they overcame the Super League regular season leader, Vladivostok’s Dynamo.
Excluding the first leg of this Round of 32, Zenit’s and CSKA’s reserve teams have met four times in the Super League, with Zenit holding the advantage at 3-1.
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his thoughts ahead of the rematch with CSKA:
Regardless of the first game’s outcome, we have to play at our best, aim to win and make a stronger impression after the game in Moscow. Both the players and I are highly motivated. It’s still uncertain what our lineup will be, given our injury issues.
The match will take place on November 6 at the Zenit Basketball Academy (Severnaya Road, 12). The game is scheduled to start at 19:00 Saint Petersburg time, with live streaming available on the Okko Sport platform.
