Zenit-2 goes to Revda for the first away match of the season
The second team of the blue-whites squad will play an away match against Temp-SUMZ. The Zenit players are approaching this third-round Super League game in high spirits after securing home victories over Novosibirsk and Barnaul.
For the Revda team, the game against the St. Petersburg squad will be their first home game after challenging trips to Moscow and Tambov. Both matches ended in wins for Temp-SUMZ. While the game against the Wolves was initially under the control of the visitors (60:78), the CSKA-2 match remained undecided until the very last seconds (71:73).
After finishing on third place last season, our opponent has made substantial roster changes. Among the new additions, Vladislav Ilyinov, who joined from Barnaul, has stood out, averaging 10.6 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, along with Ivan Evstigneev from Chelbasket, who averages 10 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
The upcoming match will mark the eighth meeting between these teams in the Super League and the first since the spring series for the bronze. So far, Zenit has yet to beat Temp-SUMZ, making this strong start to the season an ideal opportunity to break their losing streak.
Zenit-2’s head coach, Oliver Popovic, shared his thoughts before the match:
In our preparatory friendly match, Revda played aggressively on defense and maintained a high tempo on offense — just like they did in the first two games of the championship. Temp-SUMZ is a physically strong, experienced team that maintains a high pace throughout the 40 minutes. It will certainly be one of the most challenging away games for us.
The match will take place on October 16 at Temp-SUMZ's home stadium, starting at 16:00 St. Petersburg time. The game will be broadcast on the Russian Basketball Federation’s website.
