Zenit-2 goes to the Alexander Petrenko Cup
From September 27 to 29 the annual Alexander Petrenko Cup will take place in the Moscow Region. The friendly tournament will be held at the Khimki Basketball Center. Khimki, Zenit-2, Tambov and Universitet Yugra will take part in it — all participants of the Super League
The Cup will be held for the fourteenth time and will be the final part of the preseason ahead of the start of the 2024/25 Russian Championship — Super League. The tournament was first organized to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Khimki captain Alexander Petrenko, who tragically died in a car accident on July 21, 2006. Zenit-2 vs. Tambov
This offseason, the teams have already met on the court at the Basketball Academy. In the friendly game, which was the first preseason match for the Saint Petersburg team, Oliver Popovich’s squad won with a score of 63:59. A month later, both teams are getting into optimal shape and are ready for a rematch.

Khimki vs. Zenit-2
In the second match the blue-whites will face the tournament hosts — Khimki. The last time the teams met was in the semifinal series of the previous campaign. In the third game the yellow-blues won 76:54 and advanced to the Super League finals. But now, everything starts from scratch.

Universitet Yugra vs. Zenit-2
Last season, the team from Surgut finished 10th in the standings and failed to make the playoffs. The most recent meeting with Yugra ended in a home victory for Zenit with a score of 84:75. The game against the Siberians will be the final one for the Saint Petersburg team at the Petrenko Cup.
