Thank you, Igor!

At the expiration of his contract, Igor Volkhin is leaving Zenit Basketball Club. The forward will continue his career with another team.

Igor has been one of the key veterans of the team from St. Petersburg. He joined the Blue-White-Sky Blues in 2020 and, over six seasons, appeared in 145 games, earning a place in the club’s prestigious Club 100.

Together with Zenit, Volkhin won all the major trophies in Russian basketball: he became the VTB United League and Russian champion, lifted the National Cup, and won the VTB League Supercup twice.

As he concludes his journey with Zenit, the forward shared his emotions and words of gratitude:

It is difficult to find the right words or make any comments about leaving a place that has truly become a home for me and my family.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank this club, every person who works here, and the entire staff for everything they do so that, as a player, all you have to think about is basketball and nothing else. Thank you to all the office employees and the media team, who do an enormous amount of work while often remaining behind the scenes. Thank you to the entire medical staff for your patience and professionalism, and for doing everything possible to help us continue playing and performing at the highest level.

Thank you to all the guys I have worked, played, and trained with over the years. Special thanks to the club’s management for the opportunity, the trust, and the honor of being part of such a great organization. I am also grateful to every coach under whose guidance I had the privilege to train and play. It has been an incredible and unforgettable experience.

And of course, the fans. My deepest gratitude goes to you. Thank you for your support through everything, in both good times and difficult ones. That support means a great deal. Thank you to each and every one of you for the kind words you have shared with me and my family.

It is truly difficult to put everything into words. There probably is not enough space in this text to express the full range of emotions I feel for this place. I want to wish this club nothing but success, because I am certain that Zenit’s best days are still ahead.

But the time has come to close this chapter and begin a new one. At the same time, I am sure that we will return to this story whenever we have the chance. I do not want to say goodbye, so instead I will say: see you later, dear Zenit!
