Dejan Radonjić: "One shot could have decided everything at the end of the game"

May 25, 2026

Press conference of Zenit head coach Dejan Radonjić following the home loss to UNICS (73:78) in Game 6 of the VTB United League semifinals. The series is tied at 3-3.

— We started the game bad, then we managed to get back into it. Defensively, we played well, but on offense we need to do better. We had 21 turnovers. At the end of the game, one shot could have decided everything. UNICS made it, we didn't, and that's why the series continues.

— In your opinion, how did Zenit's game change without Johnny Juzang?

— Of course he is an important player for us. We tried to find a way how to play and we had the opportunity to win tonight also. So, this is what it is, we'll see how he will be. Not only that, we had a problem with some other players before the game, it was a game day decision, some of them to play or not, some of them injured, some of them something else. It was not easy to prepare the team before this game, but in the end, they won. As I said, we need to be ready for the next game, last in this series.

— For most of the game, you played with three small players and two bigs. Andrey Vorontsevich played as the center. Did you practice this lineup specifically for the game against UNICS? Or was Bako simply not ready, and Šamanić and Martiuk disappointed?

— As I said about some of them it was game day decision — to play one of them was Šamanić also. So it was my game feeling. I think so the Roberson and Vorontsevich did a good job. Both ends pretty so it's clear why they spent more minutes today and it was one of the plans before the game. So both guards, Emchenko also was not 100% ready to play. He tried to help us but this is what it is.
