Trent Frazier: "It's going to be a battle"
Zenit captain Trent Frazier shared his mindset ahead of the first away game of the VTB United League semifinals against UNICS. The Blue-White-Sky Blues have already arrived in Kazan and are preparing for tomorrow's match. Tip-off is at 18:00 St. Petersburg time.
— Is one week enough to rest and mentally prepare for the semifinals?
— Yes, we fully recovered, we know what type of series it's going to be, it's going to be a battle. So, we just got to be mentally prepared, like I said, we got our rest, our body is feeling good, but mentally we need to be focused and ready to, you know, have an all-out battle for 40 minutes over there in Kazan.
— We all remember the series against UNICS three years ago. You are one of the few Zenit players from that roster who is still in a club. Is it time for revenge?
— Of course we want to go over there and beat them. That's a very good basketball club. I think that's the plan. I mean, the plan of every series is to want to win, but we definitely owe them. So, like I said, we need to be mentally prepared and ready to go over there and showcase the right basketball.
— We start with two games on the road. What is the main danger of playing against opponents on their home court, in front of their own fans?
— Them out-toughing us. I mean, I think we need to equalize that. We know they like to play fast, we need to equalize them and transition. Again, that's a really good basketball team. We gave it a series out this year, 3-3, so I will repeat, we know it's gonna be a battle. But they have a lot of dangerous different talent on the floor. We just need to be mentally focused and prepared on, you know, everything that comes our way and be ready to take on the challenge.
