Andrey Martiuk: "Lokomotiv Kuban are strong with their fast offense"
Zenit center Andrey Martiuk shared his thoughts ahead of the match against Lokomotiv Kuban and named the opponent’s key strengths. The game will take place tomorrow, January 18, in Krasnodar. Tip-off is at 15:30 St. Petersburg time.
— How did preparations for the game against Loko go?
— They are in full swing right now. We arrived in Krasnodar in advance and have already held one very good practice. We analyzed the mistakes after our loss to Nizhny, a frustrating and unacceptable one. But we are focused, as the coach says, on the next game. We need to play our best basketball to make our fans happy.
— What is it like to be back in Krasnodar, where you played successfully for such a long time?
— This is my second visit. The first one was very emotional. I came to Krasnodar in a new role, with a new team. Now this is my second trip, I gained experience last time, and I’m fully focused on the game. I have only positive memories, which give me extra energy.
— What are the opponent’s strongest qualities?
— First, their fast offense. Second, aggressive defense on the edge of a foul. And third, their fans.
— What do you personally need to do for Zenit to win?
— Be consistent. Second, stay calm. And third, stay focused throughout the entire game and play our game.
