Zenit-2 will play against Dynamo in Grozny

Tomorrow, December 4, the Blue-White-Sky Blue farm team will play an away game against Grozny’s Dynamo. The match of the 10th round of the FONBET Super League regular season will be Oliver Popovic’s squad’s first game after the break for national team competitions. The team from the capital of the Chechen Republic has become one of the surprises at the start of the 2025/26 season. Dynamo is playing in the FONBET Super League for only the second year. In their first season, the Grozny side finished in 13th place, but thanks to a significant roster overhaul, they are already showing much better results. At the moment, Oleg Kiselev’s team has won 6 out of 9 games and sits in 3rd place in the standings.

Their successful performance in the regular season is complemented by a confident win over Magnitogorsk’s Metallurg in the Round of 32 of the Gazprombank Russian Cup and a victory over Khimki in the first game of the next stage of the tournament.

The home team’s leader in scoring and rebounds is the team’s newcomer Roman Zagretdinov. The Russian center, who previously played in the VTB United League for Enisey, averages 14.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game (1st in the League). Another important offseason transfer was the signing of Elkhan Akhmedov. The former Zenit-2 captain has successfully integrated into the new team’s playing system and boasts the best assist numbers — 5.2 per game (top 3 in the League).

The upcoming game will be only the third meeting in the history of the rivalry between our teams. Last season, Zenit-2 won both matchups.
