Aleksander Sekulic: "There is a lot of things to adapt to"
Zenit head coach Aleksander Sekulic shared his thoughts following the team’s away loss to Enisey (83:78) and answered journalists’ questions at the post-game press conference.
— Yeah, right now we are really not in a good momentum. We have a lot of injured players, two of them coming out of the injury, coming out after the tough game and basically playing this game without the practice with a totally different team we were playing so far. So It was a lot of things to adapt to.
But regardless of this, I am somebody who doesn't want to look for excuses. And we made too many mistakes defensively, which is connected to what I was saying before. But individual responsibility at some point is very important. We have to do a better job. For example, home team started really well, shooting-wise, they were shooting, they were scoring. When we were trying to come back, like I said before, we were repeating mistakes time after time. And in the second half, somehow, we were focused for five minutes and then again start doing the same mistakes.
But at the end I want to congratulate Enisey, they played great game. We have to figure out how we are going to overcome these difficult times we have right now.
— First half shooting was way off. What was the problem? Why do you think you missed so many shots in the first half?
— I mean this happens, like I said, I don't want to look for excuses but yeah it happens. We had open shots, we had good shots. You just didn't capitalize this and this is also one of the reasons but when you cannot make shots you have to step up on defensive and do a better job there but we weren't on the level we want to be.
— You have so many injuries, do you think young players can help you more? Are they ready to?
— Obviously today they were not ready but we have to keep on fighting, we have to find a way prepare them to help us in the best possible way. VTB league is a strong league, very good league and if you're not 100% focused you pay the price.
