Aleksander Sekulic: "Hopefully the injuries we suffered tonight are not too serious"
Zenit head coach Aleksander Sekulic summed up the results of the home VTB United League game against BETCITY Parma, which ended with a score of 82:79.
— First of all thanks for the fans coming on Wednesday night giving us support. We are in a tough moment regarding the medical part. I'm happy that Sergey Karasev is back. I'm happy that Trent is coming back to his rhythm. Hopefully the injuries we suffered tonight are not too serious.
I don't like to point out individual players, but today I would like to point out Andrey Vorontsevich. He played a great game in defense, and we should not forget that he spent a lot of minutes playing. For us it was a tough game. The team we played against is scoring 90 points per game. At some point we were without Andrey Martiuk and Alex at the same time, so we lacked some defensive rebounding. With a little bit of luck effort great effort at the end and patience we managed to win.
— What happened to Zhora? What about health condition of Roberson and Neno?
— I wish I knew about Neno and Andre Roberson when they are going to come back but I cannot give you this answer because truly I don't know. They are not ready yet. Hopefully they're gonna be soon. For sure we're gonna let everybody know because we can't wait for them to come. Regarding Zora, he suffered minor injury in the last game in a cold gym of Nizhny Novgorod. Shouldn't be nothing serious so most likely he's gonna join the team very soon.
— Aleksander, continuing the topic of injuries, I would like to know what is going on in the head of the coach when one person is missing, the next day another one comes back, someone else is missing again. What exactly is going on in the head of the coach at this moment?
— At some point it's very frustrating for me, but my job is to find a way, to prepare the team to find a way to win. We play games to win, so I always try to figure out with my coaching staff how to win games in a given moment and now this given moment means that we have trouble with the injuries. So in this case some other players need to step up.
