Farm team will face BARS-RGEU on home court

October 15, 2025

Zenit-2 is preparing to host Rostov’s BARS-RGEU on its home floor. The game will take place as part of 3rd round of the FONBET Super League regular season.

The Rostov side, which finished last season in 14th place, enters the new championship under head coach Maxim Grigoriev, who took charge of the team in December 2024.

The BARS-RGEU roster is one of the youngest in the league. The team has been reinforced by several promising players, including Lokomotiv-SSOR loanees — guard Ilya Grushevsky, forward Egor Sychkov, and center Artem Koryakovsky. However, one of the leaders of this young squad could undoubtedly be the experienced Alexey Vzdykhalkin, who joined from Irkut.

Just like our previous opponent, Khimki from the Moscow region, the Rostov team started the regular season with two home games — against Barnaul (80:88) and Novosibirsk (75:85) — but narrowly lost both matches. In addition, Maxim Grigoriev’s team has already started in the Gazprombank Russian Cup, suffering a defeat to Yugra in the first leg of the Round of 32 — 85:96. Their most recent game was an away match in Grozny, where they fell to the local Dynamo 80:60.

Throughout the history of matchups between the two teams in the FONBET Super League, Zenit-2 has never lost to BARS-RGEU, boasting a record of four victories.

Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his thoughts ahead of the game against the Rostov side:

Every game this season will be tough for us. We have a young and inexperienced team. I hope we can build on the good moments from the game against Khimki and reach our first win. BARS-RGEU is a good team, and we’ll do everything we can to get the victory.

The game will take place tomorrow, October 16, at the Zenit Basketball Academy (Severnaya Road, 12). Tip-off — 18:00. Admission is free — come support the Blue-White-Sky Blues!
