Alex Poythress: "Hope to see y'all soon"
The St. Petersburg center Alex Poythress shared his emotions about the end of the season. In an interview for Zenit TV, we talked about the 60 matches played in a year, his impressions of returning to the club and plans for the off-season.
— Alex, what are your impressions of the closing ceremony of the season?
— It was good. It was good to see the fans out here celebrating with us. They pushed us a lot throughout the year, so it was good to celebrate with them as well.
— We understand that you have a very big experience, but what did this season teach you?
— It taught me a lot. As I get through the years of my profession, every year is something different. But we just got to keep fighting, keep playing hard, and together just show that we're a family on the court.
— You and Andrey Vorontsevich played in all official and preseason games of the season, and was it hard? Was it difficult?
— Yeah, it's hard. It's a little bit of hard work, a little bit of luck as well, you know what I mean? I'm just blessed to be able to play all the games. Last couple of years I've had some injuries, so to be able to play every game this year is big for me.
— Did your expectations about returning to Zenit and reuniting with Xavi Pascual live up to reality?
— For sure, for sure, you know what I mean? I love Zenit, I love Saint Petersburg. I wanted us to win the championship, but we came in second. We know this was a really good year.
— After your comeback to Zenit did you notice any changes in the club, in the organization?
— The organization did good. The organization's always been a good organization. It's never had no complaints from me.
— What are your plans for the off-season?
— Travel home, take about a week off, and then start training again. Business like usual.
— A lot of fans really love you and what would you like to say to them?
— I love the fans too. Hope to see y'all soon.
