Aleksander Sekulic is the head coach of Zenit

Zenit Basketball Club has reached an agreement to cooperate with Aleksander Sekulic. The 47-year-old Slovenian specialist has been appointed head coach of the Blue-White-Sky Blues. His contract is set for the 2025/26 season, with an option to extend under a "1+1" scheme.


Aleksander Sekulic began his coaching career in 1996 and has spent most of his nearly 30-year professional journey with clubs in Slovenia and the Czech Republic. With Slovenian club KRKA, he became national champion, won the Slovenian Superсup twice and was named Coach of the Year. At the end of the 2021/22 season, Sekulic led ERA Nymburk to the Czech championship gold medals.


Russian fans primarily know Aleksander Sekulic for his work with Lokomotiv Kuban from 2022 to 2024. Under the guidance of Slovenian coach, the Krasnodar team reached the VTB United League finals for the second time in their history during the 2022/23 season and also won silver at the 2023 Supercup.


Since 2020, Aleksander Sekulic has been the head coach of the Slovenian national team. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the Olympics for the first time and immediately advanced to the semifinals at the Tokyo Games. Additionally, he became European champion in 2017 with the Slovenian national team, serving as an assistant coach.


Sekulic will become the fourth head coach in the club's history and will lead the Blue-White-Sky Blues into their twelfth season.
