Zenit is the silver medalist of the 2024/25 VTB United League season

June 9, 2025

A landmark season has come to an end for the blue-whites, marked by the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Zenit BC. The sport year began with a victory in the Kondrashin and Belov Cup and the bronze medals in the VTB United League Supercup.

In the VTB United League the team achieved major success. Despite numerous challenges and injuries, Zenit won the regular season for the second time in its history. During the playoffs, the team set a new league record with a 25-game winning streak. As a result, Zenit’s head coach Xavi Pascual was named Coach of the Year, and forward Dwayne Bacon earned the MVP title.

The clash with CSKA marked only Zenit’s second appearance in a league final, and the road there was far from easy. In the semifinals, Zenit went the distance in a tough seven-game series against Lokomotiv Kuban, ultimately clinching the win 4–3. In the final, the blue-whites fell to CSKA and earned their first-ever silver medals in both the VTB United League and the Russian Championship.

Beyond the main team, the Zenit Basketball Academy teams also delivered impressive results. For the first time in history, two blue-whites squads reached the Final Eight of Children's Youth Basketball League, with Zenit U19 winning the tournament for the second year in a row. In 3x3 basketball, the newly formed Zenit Academy team made a debut by claiming silver at the Russian U23 Championship. Additionally, Zenit U21 took bronze in the United Youth League, while Zenit-2 improved its performance in the Super League, battling for medals until the very end.

Thank you for this bright and eventful season! Zenit will come back even stronger!
