Sergey Karasev: "PARMA promotes a very aggressive style of basketball"
Zenit captain Sergey Karasev shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming home game against PARMA. The forward highlighted the opponent's strengths and spoke about the motivation going into tomorrow’s match. The match against the Perm team will take place on April 9 at the CSC Arena. Tip-off is at 19:00 St. Petersburg time. Tickets are available at tickets.bc-zenit.com.
— What strengths can you highlight in PARMA’s game?
— They’re a fast, aggressive team with a solid group of foreign players who can really shake things up. Royce Hamm, Whittaker, Nevels — we know all of them well. They promote a very aggressive style of basketball. Plus, coach Pashutin has always played aggressive, fast-paced basketball with a lot of freedom on offense. Also, these are important games for PARMA too, since they’re fighting for a playoff spot and a higher position in the standings. So I think they’ll come well-prepared and fully focused.
— How important is it for you to clinch first place in the regular season specifically in St. Petersburg?
— Of course, we go out to win every game, regardless of whether it’s decisive or not. Naturally, we’d love to secure first place early, especially in front of our home fans. It’s a great chance to treat the people of St. Petersburg to a beautiful game and a victory.
