Georgy Zhbanov: "We redeemed ourselves after the game in Moscow"
Zenit guard Georgy Zhbanov commented on the home victory over Uralmash (96:66) and answered journalists' questions during the post-match press conference.
— Congratulations to Zenit on the victory. We redeemed ourselves after the game in Moscow and played with all our hearts. The most important thing is that we won.
— How do you prefer to play: when you hit your first three-pointer and gain confidence, or after a miss, when you feel more confident with each new shot?
— No, if Alexey Shved passes, you just have to shoot right away, without thinking. I need to help him get as many assists as possible in his career, so that no one can catch up with him. That’s why I don’t think about it, I just shoot.
— During the game, there was an unusual moment when on the cube was showed a video of Alexander Ovechkin scoring his 895th goal in the NHL. Were you following that?
— Well, since we were already up by "+20", it was fine to show some hockey. We are incredibly happy for our compatriot. Our guys are conquering the NHL. I congratulate Alexander and wish him to get so far ahead that no one will catch up with him in our lifetime.
— Speaking of record-breakers, you mentioned Alexey Shved today. Do you think in the next 10-15 years, someone will be able to break his points record?
— We will do everything we can to make sure that doesn’t happen. I don’t want anyone to catch up with him. I want to be able to brag to my children and grandchildren that I played with a player like Alexey Shved.
