Dwayne Bacon: "We was in control most part of the game"

Blue-whites’ forward Dwayne Bacon commented on the victory over CSKA (81:77) especially for Zenit TV. About the decisive shot, the winning streak and the changes during the game — in our interview.

— Congrats on this win. Zenit secured their 16th consecutive victory, setting a new club record. Did you think about this before the game?

— No. We just wanted to win this game. We both had the same record. We both was battling for the number one spot. So we just wanted to come out with a win to solidify ourselves as number one, but we still got four more games.

— Did you discuss with the team that this match was essentially a battle for the top spot in the regular season?

— Yes, we had that discussion. That was the main focus of the day, just come out and play the best of our ability, everybody pitching, get a team collective win so we could be the first spot.

— What did coach say to you during the halftime when you had a 10-point lead?

— Just keep playing. We went over a couple of adjustments that we need to make. Some of their key plays that they make, they was doing a lot of staggered down and coming up to the top of the key to try to get the switch on the floor. We just had a general regular talk like we do to make adjustments at halftime and we came out and executed.

— Can we say that it was the best game of the season in terms of quality?

— Oh yeah it was a good game. We was in control most of the game but you know at the end we knew they was gonna make a push. They're not gonna go away, they're a very good team. We just had to control through all the ups and the downs, the ref calls, and the tough shot making that they were doing. We controlled it well and came out with a win.

— How did you feel when you made the decisive shot at the end of the match?

— I felt like the man, because we won. At the end of the day, as long as we win, it don't matter, so I felt good, the team felt good. At the end of the day, we want to come out with a win. The goal is to get as much wins as we can, no matter who does it. You know, I think we all react the same way every time somebody hit a big shot. Tonight it just happened to be me so.

— We had a full house — more than 7000 fan in the arena. What would you like to say to them?

— Thank you. Thank you for coming. Well, every time we play, you know a powerhouse team like CSKA the fans come out and show their support. So thank you, you know, and we got four games ahead and then we start play off. So we're gonna need them for the rest of the season. It's gonna be a long two or three months but I just want them to know we're locked in so they need to stay locked in with us.

— The next game will be in Moscow against MBA-MAI. What are your expectations for it?

— To come out, play hard and win. Every opponent is the same for me and the same for our team. We treat everybody like you know if they were CSKA. So we're gonna come out, play hard and try to get the win
