"We had a poor three-point shooting percentage": Popovic and Prokopenko discuss the reasons for the loss to Khimki
March 7, 2025
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his thoughts after the away game against Khimki (91:78).
I said before the match that we are playing against a team with a very good roster — maybe the best roster in the Super League. Especially now, after they signed two new players. This is an experienced team. Today, we played without Zemskiy and Krivyh, who hasn’t trained for three weeks due to injury. We played decently for 30 minutes, but in the final quarter, we lacked both strength and concentration, especially on defense. So, congratulations to Khimki. They deserved the win 100% today.

Zenit’s guard Ivan Prokopenko also commented on the outcome of the match. In the past game, he scored 17 points, made 5 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds.
I think we just couldn’t close it out in the second half. We had a poor three-point shooting percentage. I don’t know, it’s like we just didn’t finish our game. The focus was, of course, on winning. We wanted to take the match, and we believed until the last moment that we could win. But, apparently, we lacked something.
