Zenit’s farm team will play against Khimki away
Zenit-2 continues its series of away games and is preparing to play on the road once again — this time against the Moscow Region’s Khimki. The Fonbet Super League regular season is nearing its final stretch, and the battle for positions in the standings ahead of the playoffs is becoming increasingly intense.
The teams enter the upcoming matchup as direct neighbors in the standings. Khimki holds third place with 18 wins and 8 losses, while Zenit-2 follows closely in fourth, trailing by just one game with 17 wins and 9 losses.
Andrey Maltsev’s squad has been demonstrating consistent play throughout the season. In their last 10 games, the yellow-blues have suffered only two losses — both away against the regular season leaders: on February 3 against Temp-SUMZ (79:54) and on February 27 against CSKA-2 (74:72).

Khimki is the Super League’s top passing team, averaging 20 assists per game — 2.1 more than their closest competitor. Their primary playmaker is guard Viktor Zaryazhko, who delivers an average of 5.1 assists per game. He also contributes 10.3 points per game, while Fedor Klyuchnikov leads the team in scoring with 11.7 points. This duo poses a serious challenge for any opponent.
Additionally, in early 2025, Khimki strengthened its roster with two key acquisitions: point guard Konstantin Shevchuk, who joined from Irkut, and center Denis Vikentiev, formerly of Tambov. Both players have significantly deepened the team’s rotation.
In their previous encounter, which took place in St. Petersburg, Khimki secured a 70:79 victory. The head-to-head history between these teams includes eight matches — all of which have ended in favor of the Moscow Region club.

Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic on the upcoming away game against Khimki:
In my opinion, we are playing against one of the highest-quality and most experienced teams in the Super League. They’ve signed a couple of additional players, and their roster is strong. We expect a very tough match. Both they and we are fighting for the best playoff positioning.
The game will take place on March 7 at the Khimki Basketball Center, with tip-off scheduled for 19:00 St. Petersburg time. The match will be streamed live on the Russian Basketball Federation’s website.
