The youth team of the blue-whites heads to Yekaterinburg
Zenit U21 continues preparing for the next round of the VTB United Youth League regular season, which will take place in Yekaterinburg. Matches against the local Uralmash-2 will mark the end of Roman Knyazev's squad's extended away series that has lasted throughout January.
In the previous round, Zenit U21 suffered two defeats against PARMA-M and slipped to 5th place in the standings. Meanwhile, the Yekaterinburg team holds 11th place with 9 wins and 21 losses.
Unlike their opponents, Uralmash-2 has played all their January games at home. On their home court, the Ural team lost twice to MBA-MAI-Junior and CSKA-Junior but won both games against Enisey-2.
The hosts' leaders are Artem Fomin (11.3 points per game) and Matvey Reshetov (11.1), the latter also leading the entire tournament in assists (6.6 per game).
Previously, the teams have faced each other six times in the VTB United Youth League, with the blue-whites holding the advantage — four wins versus Yekaterinburg's two.
The games against the Ural team will take place on January 23 and 24, with both matches starting at 17:00 St. Petersburg time. The games will be broadcast live on the VTB United Youth League website.
