Buckner entered the NBA draft in 2012 but was not selected. He started his professional career in Turkey and spent four seasons there, playing for Usak, Istanbul, and Turk Telekom. He then played in China, Greece, returned to Turkey, France, back to Turkey, and finally joined Saint Petersburg's Zenit in the spring of 2022.
