Roman Knyazev has been appointed senior coach of the Russian U16 national team

The Russian Basketball Federation has appointed Roman Knyazev, coach of the Zenit Basketball Academy, as the senior coach of the Russian men's National Team U16. His first experience in the national team will be a training camp at the Paramonovo Sports Base, where the players will gather from July 2 to July 21. Then the team will move to Belgrade (Serbia), where from July 22 to 25 they will continue preparations and play several friendly games.
Knyazev is the head coach of Zenit-UOR #1, who, together with the blue-whites won the Children's Youth Basketball League twice — in 2022 and 2024. At the end of the 2023/24 season, Roman was recognized as the best coach of the CYBL Championship.
In addition to Knyazev, several players who are graduates of St. Petersburg basketball have also been invited to the U16 national team roster: Daniil Vorobyov, Nikolai Sevostyanov, Anton Suikonen, Ilya Ivanov, Kirill Komyagin, Alexander Alekseev, as well as Artyom Grazhdanov.
