Dmitry Uzinskiy: "This season was like a roller coaster"
— Dmitry, how would you describe this season emotionally?
— The season was interesting, to say the least. It was like a roller coaster. Unfortunately, though, the ride ended at the bottom rather than at the top, which is where we wanted to be. So there is plenty of food for thought. Of course, there’s a certain aftertaste left from the season.
— Throughout the championship, you were an important part of the rotation and often helped the team coming off the bench. What helps you stay focused and ready to contribute at any moment?
— Thank you for the kind words. I’m always ready to step onto the court and help however I can. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn’t. It was a rather uneven season for us. There were positive moments, but unfortunately there were fewer of them than the negative ones.
— Which teammate most often lifts everyone’s spirits in the locker room, and who would you call your true friend?
— A true friend? They’re all friends. Andrey Vorontsevich is the one responsible for our team chemistry, so I’ll single him out.
— Which game or moment of the season was the most memorable for you?
— It’s hard to say. Probably the only dunk I made this season. It’s never happened before that I scored just one dunk in an entire season. It’s disappointing, of course — I would have liked to have more.
— What would you like to say to the club’s fans at the end of the season?
— First of all, I want to thank them for standing by us during this difficult season and for their support. They never gave up, and together we fought until the very end. For that, I’m incredibly grateful — I take my hat off to them. Thank you very much for believing in us until the last moment. More than six thousand people came to our final game for third place. In some ways, we didn’t live up to their expectations. That happens — it’s sports. So I want to thank them once again. Please continue supporting the team and caring about it. I believe everything will work out.
