Rostislav Vergun joins Zenit coaching staff
Rostislav Vergun has joined the coaching staff of Zenit BC first team as an assistant coach and will serve as interim head coach. The contract with the 43-year-old Belarusian specialist runs through the end of the 2025/26 season.
Vergun began his coaching career in 2012 with Mogilev’s Borisfen. In the summer of 2014, he moved to Tsmoki Minsk — first as an assistant coach, then as head coach of the reserve team, and from 2019 he led the club’s main team. Together with Tsmoki Minsk, later renamed MINSK, Rostislav Vergun became a six-time Belarusian League champion and a five-time Belarusian Cup winner.
From 2019 to the present, Vergun has served as head coach of the Belarus men’s national basketball team.

The most recent club in Vergun’s career was Uralmash Yekaterinburg. He took charge of the Ural club in December 2023 and, over two years as head coach, led the Yekaterinburg team to the VTB United League playoffs twice. In the spring of 2024, in the quarterfinal series against Zenit, Uralmash managed to push the matchup to a decisive fifth game despite losing the first two games.
In the 2024/25 season, Uralmash under Rostislav Vergun won the Russian Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
The Blue-White-Sky Blues are delighted to welcome Rostislav to St. Petersburg and wish him continued success together with Zenit!
