Levi Randolph: "Everybody did their role"
The Blue-White-Sky Blues guard Levi Randolph summed up the results of the game against Pari Nizhny Novgorod (102:80) in an interview with Zenit TV. In the matchup against the Volga team, he recorded 25 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.
— Congrats on the win. You had a hot hand tonight. How would you rate your performance?
— I don't know how to rate it, but I just try to do whatever I can to help the team. One of my abilities is to be able to score the basketball. I mean, I couldn't have done it without my teammates. They were able to find me in open spots. And, you know, I think that's the hard part. You know, they did a great job of, as a team we did today, moving the ball. I mean, also Trent had a very good game. He had a hot hand as well. You know, everybody did their role, played their part and I was fortunate enough to be able to make shots today.
— You and Trent combined for 52 points tonight. You've got a great duo, right?
— Yeah, I think so. You know, the more we play together, the more we're a bit of connection. You know, kind of like a one-two punch type of thing. It feels good to be able to play with a player like that. He's a really good player. Very elite, scoring the basketball and, you know, he's a great shooter. So, it makes my job easier when, you know, a lot of attention is on him and then I can start scoring. And then a lot of attention on me he starts scoring. I think it makes us very dangerous.
— At the end of the second quarter you roared like a real lion. What did you feel when you scored this bucket?
— I just felt like I was in my mode. I feel like normally in my past I've been a very emotional player. I like to yell, I like to scream so I just felt you know in my zone during that moment and I just let it all out a lot of emotion came out.
— And also at the end of the second quarter you had a hover in the air. Did you feel pleasure tonight?
— Yeah, I had a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun playing the game. I mean, that's why we started playing at a young age, you know, because it was fun. We forget that sometimes, you know, fun is relative also. It's fun to win, you know, whenever you can win a game, that's what makes basketball fun. So we just got to continue to stay focused, continue to work hard, continue to follow the coaches and you know try to get more wins, continue to win and that's what makes it fun.
— When did you feel that the game is fully under your control?
— When the clock hit zero. That's when I felt like we had the control is when the clock hit zero.
— Do you feel that the team is getting its rhythm?
— I think so we've been through ups and downs. We had a lot of injuries this season. We lost a very important player, Alex, we miss him a lot. But once we have everybody starting to come together and you know more practice together. I think that we can continue to build. We'll find a rhythm, just practice more we can play together, have a full team.
— What do you think, did you manage to cope with the Washington tonight?
— He's a very good player, we knew that before. We saw his 40-point triple-double, we know that he's the head of the snake over there and he's gonna make them go. It's tough keep him under control but Trent did a great job guarding him, Uzi guarded him, a lot of different guys guarded him today and I think they did their best and that's all we can ask for.
— Next game will be in Moscow against CSKA. What are your expectations?
— The expectation is going there and win. I mean we're gonna go fight, play hard. We have a few days before we get there so we're gonna watch film, go over to the scouting report and play hard.
