Andrey Martiuk: "At the beginning, we let the opponent feel the game"
Zenit’s center Andrey Martiuk shared his impressions after the away victory over Samara (64:113).
— I congratulate all Zenit fans on the win, a good win. At the beginning, we let the opponent feel the game, but from the second quarter onward, we started playing our own game and earned an advantage because of that.
— If Zenit allowed Samara to play on equal terms in the first quarter, you scored 12 points and then somewhat stepped back. What was that? Momentum?
— My teammates and the flow of the game created opportunities. At that moment, everything worked out so that the ball came to me, and all I had to do was either beat my defender or score.
— Did the frustrating last-second loss to CSKA add some motivation or anger today? Or is that match already forgotten?
— Such losses are always, you could say, disappointing at first — well, in the first few seconds. But then you realize it’s a regular season, and we definitely became stronger after that game. And we will keep getting stronger from game to game.
