Vince Hunter: "I'm really proud of a lot of things this season"
The blue-whites center Vince Hunter shared with Zenit TV his emotions from the end of the season, recalled his performance in the seventh semifinal game against Lokomotiv Kuban and told how he plans to rest in the summer.
— Vince, what are your impressions of this season?
— We played real good. We broke a record, 25 wins in a row. We're first place in the league. We got a lot of accomplishments this year, but we still didn't reach our goal, but that's life. You don't reach your goal sometimes, and that's just something you gotta live with.
— Would you call this season more successful than the previous one?
—Yeah, yeah, I definitely can say that. I mean, like I said, we got a few more accomplishments this year. We made it to the finals this year, so that was big. So yeah, I would say that it was a good year.
— Was there a personal moment during the season that you’re especially proud of?
—That I'm proud of, I would just say making it to the finals. You know, you can't take that for granted. You know, that's a big, big thing to get to the finals. It's another big thing to win 25 games in a row. You know, that's tough. You got to be mentally tough. So, you know, I'm really proud of a lot of things this season.
— In the decisive game against Loko you had six blocks in the fourth quarter. Did you expect that kind of performance from yourself?
—Well, like I always tell you guys, you know, I'm one of the type of players that, you know, I'm a role player and I'm just trying to do things that, you know, what my team needs at the time. Of course, I never would have thought I would get six blocks in one game, that never crossed my mind, even though I am a defensive player and I pride my game on defense. I just never thought I'd get six blocks in a game.
— What do you plan to work on in preparation for next season?
— Just get back to work. I'm excited to get back to work already. I probably need to take 10 days off to take care of my body and spend some time with my family. But I'm ready to get back to work, man. Like we said earlier, you know, I didn't reach my goal, so I'm just trying to work so I can get to my goal.
— And how are you planning to spend your summer?
— I gotta stay at the gym, man. You know, when I'm on vacation, I still find myself around basketball a lot because I have kids back at home that play. But I'm gonna try to take a real vacation, maybe where it's a beach and some water where I can go swimming, something like that. Hopefully, I can get there.
