The youth team takes two wins in Saratov
Zenit U21 played two away games against Avtodor-2. The regular season matches of the VTB United Youth League took place on January 13 and 14 in Saratov at the "Zvezdny" sports complex and ended with victories for the blue-whites team.
On the first day, the match began as a tight contest, but the St. Petersburg players gradually took control, building a comfortable lead. The key moment of the game was the third quarter (15:25), after which Zenit U21 held a 12-point advantage. In the final segment, the team confidently secured the win with a final score of 73:86. The top performers for Zenit U21 in this game were center Mikhail Presnyakov (20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, 1 steal) and forward Timur Ivanov (16 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal), both achieving double-doubles.
The second game was more intense and competitive, with intrigue until the very end. The hosts finished the first quarter with a 9-point lead, but Roman Knyazev's team managed to close the gap and take the lead before halftime. However, the final outcome of the game was decided only in the last ten minutes, with Zenit U21 securing the win at 73:81. In the final quarter, Zenit U21’s point guard Dmitry Chikishev scored 8 points and was the top performer of the game with a stat line of 20 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds.
