Timofey was involved in basketball in his hometown of Rostov-on-Don, and at the age of 17, he joined the system of Krasnodar's Lokomotiv-Kuban. He played for the youth team, where he quickly settled in and became a leader. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Gerasimov won the MVP of the month award in the VTB Youth United League and made his debut for Lokomotiv's main team in the Eurocup in December!
In the same season, Timofey played for the main team in the Russian Cup, and the following year he joined the Lokomotiv-COP team in the Superleague-2 while also assisting the main team. Midway through the season, Gerasimov moved to Nizhny Novgorod on loan, where he finished the season. The following year, Gerasimov became the captain of the farm team, scored 41 points, set a Supeleague-2 season record, and made it into the tournament's symbolic starting five of the year, which was prematurely finished due to the pandemic.
In June 2020, Gerasimov moved to Nizhny Novgorod, signing a four-year contract. However, after a year, the club and the player mutually terminated the agreement, and the guard ended up at Enisey. In Krasnoyarsk, Timofey spent two seasons, made it to the Russian national team, and eventually ended up at Zenit.
