Vince Hunter was born in Detroit, where he started playing basketball and graduated from high school. After that, he enrolled in the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and played in the NCAA Division I until 2015, making it to the All-Conference First Team in his final season. In 2015, Hunter went undrafted in the NBA Draft and began his professional career.
He started in the NBA Development League (now G League) with the Sacramento Kings' affiliate team before receiving an offer from Panathinaikos. He finished the season in Athens and then moved to Avtodor. His season in Saratov was excellent, and Hunter was invited to the NBA, signing with the Memphis Grizzlies. However, he struggled to establish himself in the roster and eventually moved back to Europe. That's when his successes began: winning the Basketball Champions League, FIBA Intercontinental Cup, titles as the top scorer in the BCL and Greek Championship, and winning the Italian championship.
After his stint in France, Hunter had a solid season and then moved to Kazan, joining UNICS, where he won the United League championship in 2023 and the Russian championship title. At the end of the season, Hunter moved to St. Petersburg.
