Zenit-2 heads to Rostov-on-Don
The second team of the blue-whites continues its preparation for the away game against Rostov's BARS-RGEU. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming match for Zenit-2.
Our opponent has had a rough start to the season, with only one win in the first seven matches. However, in the last month, the southern team has found a good rhythm, winning against Rodniki (66:76), Chelbasket (70:63) and Tambov (91:92), as well as losing to CSKA-2 (88:76) in a tough battle in the latest round of the Fonbet Super League.
The leader of the hosts, Dmitry Dvoinikov, is among the top 3 best scorers of the current season. On average, the forward scores 16.6 points per game. The only players with better statistics are Zenit's Daniil Aksenov (17.6) and Alimjan Fedyushin (19.3) from Lokomotiv.
This will be only the third game between our teams in the Super League. Both previous meetings ended with victories for St. Petersburg.
Zenit-2 head coach Oliver Popovic shared his thoughts ahead of the game against BARS-RGEU:
This is the first of three very tough away games for us. Rostov is an experienced team, and they play very well at home. The key, of course, is good defense and full concentration throughout the entire 40 minutes to eliminate as many empty minutes in our game as possible.
The match will take place on December 15 and will start at 13:00 St. Petersburg time. The game will be broadcasted on the website of the Russian Basketball Federation.
