Omari Spellman and the Lebanese National Team qualified for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup
The Lebanese national basketball team defeated Syria 89:64, securing an early qualification for the FIBA Asia Cup, scheduled to take place from August 5 to 17, 2025, in Saudi Arabia.
Omari Spellman was the standout performer for Lebanon. In the game against Syria, the forward recorded an impressive stat line with 24 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.
On Friday, November 22, Lebanon also secured a victory against the UAE. Spellman once again led the team, scoring 19 points, along with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in that match.
After the decisive win, Omari Spellman shared his thoughts on qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup:
And it was just really, really dope to be a part of it, to put on a Lebanese jersey and represent a country, and to show up that way, and for the team to play as well as we did, and to qualify for the Asia Cup was just an amazing feeling. So I'm just really happy, and I'm excited to get back to work at St. Pete and finish the season strong.
Lebanon leads Group F without a single defeat after four qualifying matches and will not drop below second place in the standings. Spellman's team will play their final qualifying games on 21 February against Bahrain and 24 February against the UAE.
