"A Day in history": Birth of the club's fan sector
On November 9, 2014, St. Petersburg was set for another regular season game in the VTB United League against Tsmoki-Minsk. Vasily Karasev's team flew out for the away match, and along with them, three Zenit fans traveled to the capital of Belarus to support the new basketball team from their city.
As other members of the fan sector later recalled, it was Konstantin, Natalia and Stanislav — fans of Zenit's football team — who made that trip to Minsk. The team warmly welcomed their enthusiasm. The blue-whites squad secured a confident 97:58 victory, and following their triumph, there were handshakes and congratulations right on the court. This day is considered the official beginning of the St. Petersburg fan sector's history.
Since then, the supporting has continuously grown, and the stands at home games have never been quiet. Upon returning, the fans united in the 8th sector of SIBUR Arena to support the team together in St. Petersburg. Here, they found like-minded individuals, forming a fully-fledged active support sector that cheers on the team and brings all the fans together in the arena.
To celebrate this season, a special anthem for Zenit fans was written. The song, first heard at the game against MBA-MAI, will now be performed before every home match of the blue-whites.
Congratulations to Zenit's fan sector on this remarkable milestone, and thank you for being with the team all these years! Let's continue to win together!
