Zenit will debut in 3x3 basketball

November 8, 2024
Zenit Basketball Club will try its hand at a new kind of basketball for itself — the Zenit Academy team will participate in 3x3 competitions.

The team is composed entirely of players from the Zenit Basketball Academy. It includes Academy players: Maxim Rudko (born in 2006), Ilyas Abdul (2004), Artem Khodorich (2002), Zakhar Romashov (2005), as well as Timofey Sergeev (2005) and German Garbar (2005) as substitutes.

The St. Petersburg team will be led by the coach of the blue-whites Academy, Sergey Sylko, with Leonid Kazurov appointed as the team manager. Zenit Academy is declared in the U23 age category.

This weekend, the Zenit players will participate in the Russian Basketball Championship 3x3. The competition will take place at the Vladimir Kondrashin Basketball Academy sports complex (Zagrebskiy Boulevard, 30).

On Saturday, November 9, the tournament will kick off with the group stage, where the top two teams from each group, along with the best of the third-place finishers, will advance to the playoffs. The same day will feature three matches of the Round of 16. On Sunday, November 10, the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match and final will take place.

According to the draw results, the Zenit Academy team has been placed in Group B. Their opponents in the qualifying matches will be Krasny Yakor (Nizhny Novgorod) and Bulldogs (Vologda). On the first day, November 9, blue-whites will face the Nizhny Novgorod team at 14:40 and will then play against rival from Vologda at 18:40.

Based on the rules of the Championship, there are 4 players in the team taking part in the tournament. Matches are played in full format — 10 minutes of net time per game or up to 21 points, 12 seconds per attack.

Come and support the blue-whites in their first tournament!
