Denis Zakharov: "Enisey will play without pressure"
Blue-whites guard Denis Zakharov shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming home game against Enisey. The 12th round VTB United League match will take place on November 7 at the CSC Arena, starting at 20:00 St. Petersburg time.
— Tomorrow we have a game with Yenisei, after which there will be a pause of a month before the next home match with CSKA on December 7. In this regard, how important is it to please the fans tomorrow? Will it be an unusual meeting?
— We aim to win every game, especially at home with the support of our fans, so in that sense, this game won’t be any different for us. We’ll go out there and do our best to win.
— On the other hand, you recently had a crucial victory over Lokomotiv Kuban, who defeated you in the first-round match. How much confidence does this success in Krasnodar bring?
— I’d say our spirits are generally good. Naturally, we’ll lose some games here and there, but I think we played well in Krasnodar, and it’s great we won. It’s always nice to win, but it’s more important to execute well, follow the game plan, and the victory will follow.
— A quarter of the regular season is now complete, with Zenit currently in second place. How deserved is this standing so far, and could the first part of the season have gone better?
— There’s always room for improvement, as we have two losses, but they happen. What’s more important is how we finish the last part of the season.
— What do you expect from Enisey?
— They have a young team, especially this season, with a few skilled foreign players and a good coach. They’ll be playing without much pressure, so we need to go out there, do our job, and focus on winning.
