Alex Poythress: "Today we actually played as a team"
One of the heroes of the victorious match against Samara (92:61), Alex Poythress, shared his impressions of the last meeting. In today's game, the Zenit center scored 12 points, made 5 rebounds and knocked out 2 blocked shots.
— It’s our third consecutive win. What do you feel?
— We felt good. I thought today we actually played as a team. One of our better games of the season and we had a tough week of practice and it carried on to the game, so I'm really proud of our guys and we're going to keep fighting.
— It seemed that during the second quarter we had some difficulties. What was the reason?
— It's a game of runs. Nobody can play good for 40 minutes. It's going to be up and down. But we just got when we play those bad stretches. We just got to fight through them and keep playing good. And that's what we did.
— In the pre-gamer interview Xavi mentioned that’s important to be solid on both sides of the court, defensively and offensively. Did you manage to do it tonight?
— Yeah, we did. We were definitely solid in both ends of the court. We got to keep on continuing doing that. We're getting better as a team. We're taking steps each and every day and I'm proud of all the guys.
— What did coach say in the halftime?
— Just keep playing the game. We're playing well and we played a great second half.
— When did you understand that we on 100% won’t miss a win tonight?
— At the end on a buzzer. We've got to play hard for 40 minutes so we can not think we're going to win when it's two minutes left or anything like that we gotta play the whole game and that's what we did today.
— There were a lot of supporters on the arena. Did you feel it?
— Yeah we did. We definitely have been playing on a road and we got another tough road stretch coming up uh so but it was good you know we love to play at home so hopefully the fans keep showing up we really appreciate them.
— Next stop is Krasnodar. What should we expect?
— It is gonna be a war. We just gotta fight.
