"Getting in condition and getting to know each other better": Elkhan Akhmedov about captaincy and the victory over Parma U21
The blue-whites captain, Elkhan Akhmedov, shared his thoughts on the game and discussed how he feels in his new role.
— Elkhan, congratulations on the victory! What are your impressions after the match against Parma's youth team?
— My impressions are quite normal. We're getting in condition and getting to know each other better because the squad has changed. The impressions are only positive.
— This season, you are the team's captain. What does this new role mean to you?
— It means more responsibility on the court and the locker room. I've never had the chance to take on the captain's duties in other teams before, so this is a first for me.
— Zenit-2 has already played its second friendly match. Could you share some details about the preseason preparations?
— The preparation is going as usual, we train every day. We’re looking forward to the next games, the start of the season, and meeting the fans.
— After a successful last season, what goals have you set for yourself for the upcoming one?
— We want to make it to the playoffs again, and from there, we'll see how it goes. We'll fight for the medals.
— The reserve team’s roster has been updated. How is the work with the new teammates going? Have you managed to establish any playing connections yet?
— All the connections are being worked on during games and practices. We're still at the beginning of our way, so everything is ahead of us.
— On August 18, the Zenit basketball club celebrated its 10th anniversary. What would you like to say to the fans on this occasion?
— Stay close to the club and the team, as always. Support us from the stands and from afar. Forward, Zenit!
