Vince Hunter: : “I love basketball so much that I really don’t need a vacation from it”
— Hello, Vince. First of all, how did you spend your summer?
—Well, pretty much all summer I’ve been in a gym with my younger kids which I coached all summer. So I never really took a break from basketball. I guess I love basketball so much that I really don’t need a vacation from it. On my last day at home I really was packing everything that I need, so I can get here and get ready for the season.
— Did you have an opportunity to follow the Olympics?
— I watched a few games but more so like the highlights. I’ll go back and watch full games later when I have time. I really didn’t have too much time to sit around and watch basketball like I like. So I got to go back and watch some games.
— You turned 30 earlier this month. Has something changed in your mentality? It’s such a milestone for every man you know…
—No, it feels like any other year. I’m still young, of course. I’m just blessed to be 30. To make it to 30. It’s a great accomplishment. I’m really appreciative of that.
— Andrey Vorontsevich joined Zenit this summer…
— Who?
— The one you played with earlier…
— I don’t know who it is. I just knew that he was my Cap when I was in Kazan. His nickname for me is Cap. I don’t know if I should stop calling him Cap or not, but of course we had a great time together in Kazan when we won Championships. I’m really happy that he moved here. He is very experienced, I think he has a lot to give to our team. We got a couple guys from Kazan here now, let’s see what we can do this year.
— Zenit will celebrate it’s 10th Birthday on Sunday. What would you like to tell the fans?
— Just happy to be back. Really excited to be back. Can’t wait for us to get started with training camp and preseason. I’m just ready for this year.
