Zubkov: "We need to prevent them from fast break and try to win"

November 29, 2023
Zenit captain Andrey Zubkov shared his expectations for the next VTB United League regular season match-up against Uralmash, the game in Yekaterinburg will be held on November 30 at 17:30 St. Petersburg time.

— Andrey, after the first game vs. Uralmash, you said that "this will be a huge lesson for us till the end of the season". Tomorrow, we have a return game in Yekaterinburg. What should we do to avoid repeating mistakes?

— We have to be ready from the first minute and keep in mind the thoughts that we have already lost to them somehow and should not repeat such a mistake again, because we should not lose to the same team twice. We have to be well focused and follow the coach's instructions.

— Our team currently has a five-game winning streak. Is there any pressure from this perspective?

— It seems to me, on the contrary, only gives us confidence. We just have to keep doing the same job and also improve it in some aspects to continue this series.

— Zenit is step by step improving its position in the standings. Does it motivate you?

— Dubs are always good, and they certainly add to the mood. And yes, after the first round we finished in third place, I think we can quite add and continue to work in the same spirit, which will subsequently allow us to strengthen even higher after the second round.

— Uralmash has just won an emotional victory over Enisey at home. What should we expect from the opponent in our face-to-face meeting?

— They play at home, and when you play on your own court in front of your own fans, it certainly inspires confidence. I am sure that they will run fast, because their basketball is built on fast break. We need to stop them from running away and try to win.

— How do you feel after the match with Runa? In what condition are you approaching the upcoming game?

— We feel good, we have rested and recovered. Today we have to practice well and then hit the road to Yekaterinburg.
